Saturday in Goesan - golf, hiking and wooden houses

Personally it started with 7 holes on the Par3 golf course between 8.05 and 8.45, it's a short course but nicely set with challenging greens that are cut short and fairly fast after they dried out for the last holes.

After breakfast we took a walk by the lake at Magisan mountain. There were many soldiers there, but it seemed there trip there was part of recreational program as many seemed to have their girlfriends and family there for picnics.
The springflowers started to come out, the hairy one is a flyeater.

The walk was easy enough as there was a wooden walkway. It went up and down almost all the time, but was solid and had rubber stoppers to prevent slipping.

At the end we were offered rice cake, Korean Pizza (vegetables & egg panncake) and Makgeolli rice wine.

We then took a boat back along the lake and walked back to the car. SonTae Kim, the Korean GSE-Teamleader that stayed with us last fall came to meet me. He joined us for the rest of the day. We started with Chinese Korean Lunch accompanied by MaiYong wine made from wild grapes.
It was a sweet red wine that went quite nicely Estonian Chocolate later in the room.

We were then taken to: Jim Ho Jin of CEO of LUMBER HOME KOREA. He designs and constructs wooden framed houses - homes and offices. The office building was a nice example of squarely cut wooden frame pillars with insulated elements in between. The cross-beams were also squared and fit on top of the pillars. At the ceiling the beams were round, but cut to squares for all crossings. We also got to see his factory with a production line for the wooden elements. Jerry was offered to ride home to Cheongju with SonTae, as he would not have any work with us during Sundays restday.

On our way back we asked the driver to drop us off in town, that we would walk back to the University. We found a local Supermarket after asking for directions. In the evening we continued the wineparty from Friday, but this time in Ropes room.
